Ministry of Home Affairs told the Bru leaders, lodged in the six relief camps in North Tripura district, to cooperate with the Mizoram government and return to Mizoram rather than objecting to the repatriation effort, a Mizoram home department official said.
The officials said that a meeting was convened in Delhi yesterday by the MHA and attended by officials from Mizoram and Tripura and also Bru leaders from both Mizoram and the Tripura relief camps.
The state home department said that those opposed to the repatriation was the Mizoram Bru Displaced People's Forum (MBDPF) having its headquarters in the Naisingpara relief camp in Tripura and represented by the Forum's President A. Sawibunga, Vice President Laldawngliana and General Secretary Bruno Msha.
The pro-repatriation Bru Coordination Committee (BCC), having its headquarters in Mizoram-Tripura border Mamit town was represented by its leaders, former MBDPF President Elvis Chorkhy and former Bru rebel leader Surjomoni Reang.
The meeting was inconclusive and the MHA would again deliberated on the various demands of the MBDPF, the officials added.
