The 37-year-old "Ex Machina" actor, who is playing the villain in "X-Men: Apocalypse," is working with the director for the first time, reported Femalefirst.
"He is the godfather of the genre. He was the first person to really take it seriously, find the best actors that he could and to tell the story in a real way. He has an incredible intelligence and understanding of the material," Issac said.
The film also stars Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smit-McPhee take over the roles of Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, and Nightcrawler for the first time.
