BS bags Rs 250 crore EPC contract

Engineering firm BS today said it has bagged a contract worth Rs 250 crore for constructing 765 kv double circuit transmission line between Raipur in Chhattisgarh and Wardha in Maharashtra.
The scope of the Rs 250 crore contract includes survey, foundations, erections, earthing and stringing of lines, including supply of tower and related accessories, a statement issued here said.
The 178-km line project is to be completed in 12 months.
"EPC in power transmission and distribution offers a great opportunity going forward as government is focused to remove the bottlenecks by laying infrastructure so that India becomes power surplus till 2019. This order shows our strength in EPC and we look forward to participate in upcoming bids as well," BS Chairman and Managing Director Rajesh Agarwal said.
The company has a tower manufacturing facility with an installed capacity of 240,000 tonnes a year and a backward integrated structural steel mill with an installed capacity of 120,000 tonnes a year located near Hyderabad.
