BSE overtakes NSE with higher equity turnover on RIL trades

Total equity turnover on BSE today surpassed that of NSE and stood at Rs 54,290 crore, with nearly 95 per cent of the trade coming in from RIL.
At the close of trade, total equity turnover on BSE stood at Rs 54,290.30 crore, out of which RIL contributed over Rs 51,000 crore.
On the other hand, National Stock Exchange (NSE) equity turnover was at Rs 19,550.73 crore.
In the previous session, equity turnover at BSE was Rs 5,874.98 crore while that of NSE was Rs 22,250.07 crore.
Reliance Industries shares worth over Rs 50,000 crore changed hands on BSE, days after the company announced major shareholding rejig among its promoter group entities.
As per the BSE website, the total traded shares were about Rs 51,016.44 at close of trading session, much higher than the average trade value of the stock.
Nearly 40 crore shares were traded as against the 2-week average quantity of less than 11 lakh.
The stock closed at Rs 1,287.35 on BSE, down 0.35 per cent from the previous close. During the intra-day trading session, the stock had hit a low of Rs 1,281.70 and touched a high of Rs 1,298. It had opened at Rs 1,289.80.
