Leading bourse BSE has revised the circuit limit for shares of six companies to keep excessive volatility at bay.
The new limits, effective tomorrow, will ensure stock prices do not fluctuate beyond a prescribed level during a session.
As per a BSE circular, a circuit limit of 10 per cent has been set for W S Industries (India) and 5 per cent for Tarini International.
Besides, the exchange has set a circuit ceiling of 2 per cent for Royal India Corporation, Indrayani Biotech, Navketan Merchants and SSK Lifestyles.
Among the six firms, Tarini International commands the highest market capitalisation at Rs 33.01 crore while Indrayani Biotech has the lowest at Rs 3.32 crore.
W S Industries' market capitalisation reads Rs 23.74 crore.
The circuit filter mechanism is used by the BSE to keep a lid on excessive volatility in a scrip. It is the maximum fluctuation that is allowed in a stock on a day.
The circuit filters will be changed from their existing levels in the six scrips with effect from May 11.
