Power major BSES is going to offer a course in skill development aimed primarily at acquainting the frontline network staff, who often have to deal with live wires and other hazards, with modern practices and creating a talent pool.
A first of its kind, the six-month-long "Competency Certificate in Power Distribution" program will be offered in association with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
"Post-training, participants would be able to better understand the power distribution sector, its essential components, repair and maintenance of equipments and distribution lines," a BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) spokesperson said.
The training would be conducted at the company's technical centre in Punjabi Bagh under IGNOU's School of Engineering and Technology (SOET). It will improve the overall quality of workmanship, the company said.
Outlining the objective behind the course, the spokesperson said that a large number of the network field staff is not formally trained despite having experience so it will give participants a chance to "further hone their skills and get them acquainted with modern practices".
On completion of the program, the participants will be given a certificate by IGNOU.
