The power utility has decided to add 180 MVA network capacity by July as part of efforts to improve supply.
The investment would be made to upgrade Hastasal Grid Sub Station and addition of transformers in at Matiala, Dwarka, Nangloi and Bodella grids, a BPRL spokesperson said.
"However in some areas such as Badarpur, Sangam Vihar and many of the recently regularised unauthorised colonies of West and South Delhi, (including Uttam Nagar, Mohan Garden, Sainik Vihar, Kiran Garden, Jai Vihar, Chandan Vihar, Krisha Vihar, Shyam Vihar), we face difficulties in augmenting our system due lack of space to install transformers, poles, and lay cables," the spokesperson said.
"Quick Action Teams have also been deployed. They will not only keep a check on the functioning of the Operation and Maintenance teams, but also respond to emergency situations quickly," the spokesperson said.
With areas across Delhi reeling under severe power cuts in sweltering heat, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit last week had warned BSES discoms of punitive action if they fail to improve supply immediately despite adequate availability of electricity.
