BSES warns against power theft using hooks in rainy season

Power discom BSES has come up with an advisory for the residents of the national capital to avoid electrocution and related incidents this rainy season.
In the advisory, BSES has warned against power theft using hook lines, which it said, were potential hazards to human lives especially during the rainy season as the 'hooked on' wires are not insulated or properly fixed.
"These wires can fall-off and cause grievous injuries or even fatalities in windy or rainy conditions," the advisory said.
BSES has undertaken measures to minimise moisture related breakdowns by bringing down the accumulation of moisture in its transmission network.

"To reduce the incidence of moisture related breakdowns, active measures have been taken to minimise the accumulation of moisture in the Grids and Panels," it added.
According to a BSES spokesperson, people can alert the company about fallen trees or branches on electricity wires, sparks in the meter box or poles through its 24-hour helpline 1800-10-39707 (BRPL) and 011-41999808 (BYPL).
The advisory also charted a list of precautionary measures for the residents to avoid electrocution and related incidents especially in areas of water logging.
"Keep a 'Tester' at home. If a switch is wet use it to check if there is an electricity leakage...Caution children against playing near electricity installations and in parks that are water logged," it said.
