The scheme has been planned as part of the Centre's Border Area Development Programme.
Almost 600 km of roads would be laid down at a cost of Rs 600 crore, BSF Inspector General Aditya Mishra has said.
"We hope that work can commence quickly on the project which we want to complete in two-three years," Mishra said.
He said, "We had submitted 101 project proposals to the Central government for the current fiscal year of which 20 have been cleared. Work has started on five of those programmes."
These proposals had been mooted keeping in mind the needs of the inhabitants of border areas as well as of the security forces who have to guard the international boundary, he said.
