The Border Security Force (BSF) Saturday celebrated the Republic Day at all its formation in Jammu region with fervour and joviality, pledging to continue its work towards safeguarding and maintaining the sanctity of the International Border and the Line of Control.
BSF Inspector General N S Jamwal unfurled the national flag at a function organised at frontier headquarters here and conveyed his warm wishes to his team serving at the IB and the LoC and their families, a BSF spokesperson said.
He reminded the troops not to forget the sacrifices made by the BSF martyrs and bordermen injured during hostilities with enemy while maintaining the sanctity of the nation.
This year, eight police medal for gallantry were awarded to the BSF personnel for bravery.
The spokesperson said the Republic Day was also celebrated with equal enthusiasm by the BSF personnel deployed along the International Border and the LOC.
"Men and officers pledged to continue their work for safeguarding and maintaining sanctity of border and territorial integrity with full devotion," the spokesman said.

In the premises of the BSF school at Paloura, children presented a colourful cultural programme, he said.
He said Jamwal, along with other officers and jawans of the frontier, witnessed the event.
Jamwal also visited BSF hospital and distributed fruits and gifts to the patients, the spokesperson said, adding he wished the patients speedy recovery and good health.
