BSF jawans alert 24X7: BSF IG, South Bengal
Press Trust of India Kolkata BSF jawans are alert and vigilant along the Indo-Bangla border round the clock, a senior BSF official said days after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee charged the border guarding force with not doing its job properly to stop infiltration.
Speaking about the Burdwan blast, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had recently charged that the BSF was not doing its job properly to stop infiltration.
When asked by reporters about Banerjee's observation, the BSF IG South Bengal Anil Pahliwal refused to say anything.
"We are alert and vigilant for 365 days 24X7," Pahliwal said on the sidelines of the 49th raising day of the BSF.
According to BSF data, 2,394 Bangladeshis were apprehended by the organisation for illegally trying to cross over to the Indian border up to October, 2014.
Last year, the figure was 3,478.
