BSF makes huge haul of arms, explosives, IED

In a major success against Maoists, BSF personnel have seized huge quantities of explosives, IED and other materials hidden by the ultras in a forest in Mathili area of Odisha's Malkangiri district, officials said today.
Acting on an intelligence input, BSF personnel conducted a search operation in Sisagurah forest and recovered the materials including 27 kg of explosives kept in 219 packets yesterday, a BSF press release said.
Other seized items included slurry column explosive weighing 9.5 kg, 100 electric detonators, 15 kg explosive potassium, black powder, battery of 12 and 9 volt and 1 IED weighing 4.5 kg.
The explosive and IED were kept in drums which were buried and camouflaged meticulously in inaccessible hilly forest area, the release said.
Besides, an empty steel container of 3 litres with fitted electric detonator, red cloth, 20 blank charts for preparation of posters, two pairs of sports shoes, six electric wire bundles were also recovered by the BSF, it said.
