"We have six floating BOPs in our mind for Sunderbans area and another six for the Gujarat area. Six have already been sanctioned. The ministry is in the process of identifying the government undertaking which will produce these floating BOPs," Director General of BSF Subhash Joshi said.
Quizzed on reports of exodus of Bangladeshis into India following the recent upheaval in that country, Joshi said "We are a border guarding force and we are ready for all kinds of challenges."
"We have taken a conscious decision that we need more such non-lethal weapons as use of such weapons has drastically brought down the casualties and injuries in border areas," he said.
