The Border Security Force has seized fake currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination amounting to Rs seven lakh from the border with Bangladesh in Malda district.
Nobody was as yet arrested in this connection though, a senior BSF official said today.
A BSF patrol raided the Churiantpur border post area of the district late last night and seized the Fake Indian Currency Notes in five packets, the BSF official said.
"Around 8.30 PM yesterday a BSF patrol noticed that a packet was thrown from the Bangladesh-side of the border fence. The miscreants managed to flee when the BSF personnel challenged them," the officer said.
The five packets contained 350 fake notes of Rs 2,000 denomination with a face value of Rs seven lakh, he said adding that the seized FICN was handed to the Kaliachak police.
