BSF seizes gold biscuits worth more than Rs 6 lakh

The Border Security Force today apprehended a man and seized gold biscuits worth more than Rs 6 lakh from his possession from near Petrapole border outpost in North 24 Parganas district, BSF sources said.
On receiving information about gold smuggling, troops of the Petrapole border outpost conducted a special search operation. They observed suspicious movement of an porter and detained him. While searching the detained porter the BSF personnel found two gold biscuits worth about Rs 6.85 lakh from this possession, a BSF release said.
The apprehended person and the seized gold biscuits have been handed over to Customs Office Petrapole for further legal action, it said.
This year, the BSF South Bengal Frontier has seized 11.344 kg of gold (including this seizure) of approximate value of Rs 3.23 crore and apprehended five gold smugglers, the release added.
