Vinugopal Krishna Mahuli today said that the BSNL had introduced Plan 49 for new landline customers waving installation charges.
Mahuli told reporters in Aizawl that the customers could avail of new landline connection by paying monthly charges of just Rs 49 for first six months and the customers, after the expiry of six months would be charged monthly plan charges of general plan of the respective areas.
A free BSNL prepaid SIM was offered along with the new plan, he said, adding that 24 hours unlimited calls on all Sundays from the BSNL landline to any network including other network operators would also be introduced from Thursday.
The BSNL also had increased minimum speed of broadband unlimited plans from 512 kbps to one Mbps without additional charges, he said.
BSNL promotional offers were the result of a sharp reduction in landline onnections in Mizoram after the introduction of mobile phone service in the state since 2003-04 with Airtel becoming the major player in the sector.
