BSP declares candidates for 25 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) announced here today that it would field candidates from all Gujarat Lok Sabha seats for the 2014 general elections and the party also declared 25 candidates here today.
The BSP has also decided to field Manjula Rohit who belongs to the Dalit community against the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, from Vadodara, the party said, announcing its candidates for bypolls in three assembly seats.
"Under the guidance of BSP chief Mayawatiji, we have decided to fight the Lok Sabha and assembly elections from the state. We will contest all seats, but for now we have decided to announce 25 candidates for Lok Sabha seats and three candidates for assembly bypolls," Gujarat BSP convener Dharmprakash Bharatiya said.
Maintaining the party's line, out of 25 candidates issued tickets so far, the BSP has given tickets to 18 people from the Dalit community.
It has announced its candidates from Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana and Sabarkantha seats of North Gujarat, while in Central Gujarat, the party has announced its candidates from Gandhinagar, Anand, Kheda, Bardoli, Vadodara, Ahmedabad East and Ahmedabad West assembly seats.
In the Kutch-Saurashtra region, the BSP has declared candidates from Surendranagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Amreli and Bhavnagar seats.

It has has also announced its candidates for the tribal belt in Panchmahal, Dahod, Chhota Udaipur and Bharuch.
However, the party is yet to decide about fielding its candidate from the Kutch Lok Sabha seat.
From assembly seats in Abdasa and Rapar of Kutch district and Somanath of Gir-Somnath district, the BSP has decided to field its candidates, where bypolls will be conducted simultaneously along with Lok Sabha polls.
