BSP has deep roots in Maharashtra: Mayawati

BSP supremo Mayawati today said that the roots of the party movement were deep in Maharashtra and exhorted workers to convert it into electoral success and emerge as balance of power in the state.
"BSP has very deep roots in Maharashtra and with a little more hardwork and missionary zeal, it can be converted into electoral success," Mayawati was quoted as telling party workers from Maharashtra in a release.
Recalling the contribution of social reformists like Jyotiba Phule, Shahuji Mahraj and Ambedkar in Maharashtra, Mayawati stressed that the best tribute to these leaders will be to make the party stronger in that state.

"As BSP started its journey to power in Uttar Pradesh by first emerging as balance of power, the same can be done in Maharashtra as there is immense scope for it," she said.
The party leaders from Maharashtra apprised her of organisational matters as well as the functioning of the BJP government which they alleged has a narrow, anti-people and autocratic outlook.
