BSP MLA surrenders in court in connection with rape case

BSP MLA Mohammed Alim today surrendered before a local court which sent him to 14 days judicial custody in connection with a 13-year-old rape case here.
He appeared for bail but his plea was rejected by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Jitender Kumar.
The Bulandshahr MLA then approached the District and Sessions Court which also rejected his interim bail application. District judge Piyush Kumar Srivastava fixed the hearing of his bail plea tomorrow, according to prosecution.
Police hadfreed 48 Nepali girls from Apollo Circus from June 5, 2003 here after complaints that they were sexually exploited by company owners Alim and his brother Mohammed Yunus.
Medical examination confirmed rape.
The then Chief Minister Mayawatihadhanded over the case to CB-CID in 2004.
