"Don't try to fool all the people all the time", Congress said today targeting the government over its decision to scrap a separate budget for Railways and merge it with the general budget as just another tactic to divert the attention of people.
"We are least concerned about cosmetic, superficial and non-substantive changes. What benefit is it going to give to the common man? We are neither for, nor against the merger", party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.
He claimed that the government was attempting to divert attention from the surge prices of railway tickets which has raised a controversy.
"Don't try to fool all the people all the time. Don't digress," he said.
Replying to another question, he said Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi was targeted by the BJP for suggesting a separate budget for farmers. "Now they are saying why such a separate budget was not there during the UPA time," he said.
Rubbishing the BJP's stand, he claimed if a white paper is brought out on the status of agriculture, the government would get "exposed" due to the negative growth during its tenure.
