Describing the budget as "progressive" and "pragmatic", Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said it is "pro-poor" and "pro-growth", providing opportunity to move to new heights while assuring foreign investors about predictable and fair tax system.
Amid criticism, he said the budget provides for increasing investment and strengthening the country's economic capabilities to help fulfil the dreams of the common man and providing employment opportunities.
"Union budget 2015 is a budget with a clear vision. It is a budget that is progressive, positive, practical, pragmatic & prudent," Modi tweeted.
"The budget is pro-poor and pro-growth.... Through the budget, we are going to do a major work. We are moving with the mantra of 'sabka sath, sabka vikas'," he said.
He appreciated Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for giving an "inspiring" budget which is "for the poor, for growth and employment and dreams of common people...This budget will encourage us to do new things."
Contending that the budget will "further reignite our growth engine, signalling the dawn of a prosperous future", he expressed confidence that "in the coming days, it will provide an opportunity for us to move to new heights."
