"In Pratapgarh, as part of a conspiracy members of a community were attacked and the Congress is involved in it," Bukhari told reporters after meeting Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

He said during the recent UP assembly election, 80 per cent Muslims had rejected the Congress and voted for the SP.

"The Congress and other parties are making efforts to distance Muslims from the SP so that it cannot repeat its success in Parliamentary election," Bukhari said.

He said during his meeting with the SP chief, he told him that the incident had occurred in his state and those responsible for it should be identified.

Bukhari said after riots in Kosi Kalan in Mathura, some officials were transferred.

"I told the SP president the officials should have been suspended," he said.

On alleged involvement of some SP leader in Pratapgarh incident, Bukhari said "I have demanded an inquiry and if any SP member is involved, action should be taken against him."

The Shahi Imam said the Akhilesh government had completed three months and he would comment on its performance only after six months.
