A city court today remanded Ibrahim, an accused in the Burdwan blast case, to NIA custody for 12 days on a prayer by the investigating agency for interrogating him.
G C Karmakar, acting chief judge at Bankshall court, granted the NIA's prayer and remanded the accused, who is a suspected Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) member, till May 8.
The NIA counsel submitted that Ibrahim was arrested from Pakur in neighbouring Jharkhand and a country-made pistol with six rounds of ammunition, four live country-made bombs and a computer chip containing jihadi literature were found in his possession.
It was also stated that Ibrahim was a JMB module active in Murshidabad district of West Bengal and he was arrested on the basis of a warrant against him.
He had fled to Pakur after the October 2 accidental blast in Burdwan that claimed two lives and brought to the fore an IED-manufacturing factory active in the garb of a tailoring shop.
