In a bizarre incident, a suspected burglar in the UK was today killed after being hit by a police car which had been sent to arrest him after an emergency call.
The police patrol car was responding to an emergency call about a break-in at a house when the crash happened this morning in Eastern Avenue in Reading.
The patrol car also struck a police officer, who had to be rushed to hospital.
The incident has been referred to police watchdog, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
Following the crash at Cemetery Junction, the police officer was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, the Reading Post reported.
But the other man, thought to be a suspected burglar, was pronounced dead at the scene.
