Burglers decamp with Rs 12 lakh worth mobile phones

As many as 145 mobile phones, worth Rs 10-12 lakh, were allegedly stolen from a newly-opened showroom here.
The showroom, located opposite city police station on Phagwara-Banga road, was burgled yesterday, its owner Harjit Singh Parmar told police.
Parmar said the burglars had lifted the showroom's shutter with the help of a jack and decamped with 145 mobile phones of various brands.
A case has been registered under sections 380(theft) and 457 (lurking house- trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit an offence punishable with imprisonment) of IPC, police said.
Meanwhile, Phagwara DSP Manpreet Singh Dhillon and City SHO Inspector Aman Kumar visited the showroom today.
They said that police had taken possession of the CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
