A burnt body of an unidentified woman was found at a village here in Maharashtra, police said Tuesday.
Some people from Pimplas village in Bhiwandi taluka spotted the body at a field on Monday and informed police.
The local police rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem, Thane police spokesperson Sukhada Narkar said.
A burnt bangle, some hair clips, a pair of slippers and rings were also recovered at some distance from where the body was found, she said.
A case was registered against unidentified culprits under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), she said, adding that a probe was into the incident and to ascertain the victim's identity.
