Bus driver booked for trying to set cop ablaze in Punjab

Angry over not been given duty on Independence Day, a contractual driver of Punjab roadways allegedly tried to set ablaze a police sub-inspector of state-owned transport, police said today.
However, he was overpowered by other employees, they said.
The incident happened yesterday when the driver sprinkled petrol in a workshop room and also on the sub-inspector with an intention to set ablaze both, police said.
The accused has been identified as Zora Singh, a resident of Dharamkot in this district.
Before the arrival of police, the accused driver managed to escape.
Police registered a criminal case against the driver under IPC sections 353 (obstructing public servant in discharging official duty), 353 (assaulting the official of roadways to deter him from discharging his duty) and 506 (threat).
Police is raiding various areas to arrest him.
