"We have requested the state transport department to make their stand clear on this. Till they declare that fares will be increased, we will not cancel our strike," Dipak Sarkar, Vice-President of the Bengal Bus Syndicate, told PTI here after a meeting of bus operators.
The state government was talking about setting up a committee for deciding the fare increase, which was a lengthy process, he said.
"We cannot wait any more. Although the price of diesel was hiked by the Centre several times, bus fares were not increased by the state government in tune with it," he said.
