Business community protests against shifting of bus stand

A group of traders here staged a demonstration today against Jammu and Kashmir government's plan to shift a bus stand from B C Road to Narwal locality in the outskirts of the city.
"We will launch concerted protests against shifting of bus stand if the authorities don't desist from ruining business of Jammu city," said Indeerjeet Khajuria, convener of the Bus Stand Action Committee, which is spearheading the agitation.
He said the bus stand is in the heart of Jammu, and is easily approachable from all parts of the city.
"The medical college hospital, super speciality hospital and the SMGS Hospital are at a walking distance from the bus stand," he said.

The state government is planning to shift the bus stand from its existing location on B C Road to the city outskirts in Narwal.
Earlier, the BJP had also warned the state government against its plan to shift the bus stand.
