Businessman arrested for allegedly duping customers

The manager of three high-end auto showrooms was today arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EoW) of Delhi Police for allegedly duping customers of a total of Rs 5.5 crore.
Amit Sharma, who is the mananger of three franchise of Skoda cars, was arrested by EoW for allegedly duping around 60 customers of Rs 5.5 crore on the pretext of selling them cars.
Police said customers used to book cars with Amit's showroom. Amit used to accept full or part payment and promise to deliver the car to them .
He, however, kept delaying its delivery on one pretext or the other. When the customers used to demand return of their money, Amit used to hand them cheques which used to get dishonoured.
An FIR was lodged against him over a month and half ago but he was absconding.
However, today, the police arrested him from his residence in northwest Delhi's Rani Bagh.
In October also, an owner of a high-end car showroom was arrested here for allegedly duping a businessman to the tune of Rs one crore ten lakh in Chankayapuri area here.
In that case, accused Ashish Chordia had fradulently sold a financed Porsche car to a customer without passing on its rightful ownership in his name.
