The teenage son of a businessman was allegedly kidnapped from a garden here in Maharashtra Monday with abductors later making a Rs 50-lakh ransom demand for his release, police said.
Harsh Ishwar Nachwani (17), a resident of Vaidya Nagar, was returning home after attending tuition class when he was kidnapped from Shivaji Garden at around 10 am by unidentified persons, they said.
The kidnappers intercepted the boy and dragged him on to their motorcycle and sped away from the spot, the police added.
Later, a video was sent to his father on behalf of the kidnappers who demanded a Rs 50-lakh ransom for his release, they said.
The abductors threatened to kill the boy if the ransom was not paid, the police added.
According to LCB (Local Crime Branch) chief Pradeep Siraskar, the boy's father Ishwar Nachwani, a businessman, has lodged a complaint at the Awadootwadi police station.
