The garden has been designed to create an environment that attracts butterflies as well as certain moths, an official release said.
Telangana Ministers T Srinivas Yadav, Laxma Reddy, A Indra Karan Reddy and Padma Rao, inaugurated the garden.
A brochure on the attractions of Sanjeevaiah Park was also unveiled.
Hussain Sagar Lake and its surroundings are rich in bio-diversity. A total of 50 species of butterflies were recorded in and around the lake. Sanjeevaiah Park, having a colourful range of shrubs, creepers and trees with flowers, attracts swarms of butterflies, of at least 30-40 varieties, the release said.
A butterfly park is also proposed to be developed in the area, where about 60 varieties of flowering and nectar yielding and butterfly attracting species have already been planted.
