As a part of its eco-friendly initiative, Delhi's power distribution company BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) has decided to install solar panels at its nine premises.
The Rs six crore project is expected to generate 450 KW energy, which will help BYPL save over Rs 50 lakh annually, a company official said today.
"Solar panels will be installed at the car parking area of BYPL's head office in Karkardooma and other office locations. These will generate over 355 KW of solar power. In addition, 88 solar pumps will help it to harness an additional 100 KW power," BYPL CEO Ramesh Narayanan said.
"Together, the two will help BYPL harness over 450 KW, which is roughly over six lakh units of solar energy, as part of its Renewable Power Obligation (RPO)," he said.
Narayanan also said the project, costing Rs 3.6 crore, has been partly funded by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
"BYPL has also received orders for installing 75 Renewable Energy Assisted Pumps (solar pumps) from various MPs and MLAs in Delhi. As each solar pump has a capacity of 1.2 KW, they will save 90 KW or around 32,500 units per year," he said.
REAP is a green power solution, capable of meeting water storage and pumping needs of users. It is an easy to install submersible pump connected to a water tank with a specially designed motor powered by a solar panel.
