The company had disconnected power supply to these households in April alleging that they got the connections based on questionable documents as the area falls in Uttar Pradesh. But following an intervention by Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna, the supply was restored in May.
Khanna had also directed revenue department of the Delhi government to take up the matter with the Uttar Pradesh government and examine the issue thoroughly.
Sources said following a joint scrutiny by officials of Delhi and UP government, it has been found that out of around 2,300 premises, 2,091 have been found to be in Uttar Pradesh and the rest in Delhi.
A detailed exercise in collaboration with UP revenue staff was conducted during April and June. The maps depicting the exact boundary line were signed by the revenue authorities of both North-East Delhi and District Magistrate of Ghaziabad, on September 22, according to officials.
Last month, BYPL had given a one-month notice to the consumers to take connection from Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited of Uttar Pradesh and clear their dues to BYPL.
The deadline will come to an end on September 22 and the company will terminate the supply.
