C'garh Assembly passes Rs 2,801 crore supplementary budget

Asupplementarybudgetof aboutRs 2,801 crorefor the financial year 2016-17 was passed with a voicevote in the Chhattisgarh Assembly today.
After an intense discussion between treasury and opposition benches, the demand proposals of Rs 2800.69 crore for the second supplementary budget of the fiscal were passed.
Chief Minister Raman Singh, who also holds finance portfolio, said in the current fiscal, state government's mainbudgethad increased from the original Rs 73,996 crore to Rs 78,952 crore with this supplementary budget.
In a significant announcement, the CM said '112 helpline service' will soon be started in 11 districts of the state, including Bastar and Sarguja.
It will include emergency services like police, fire- brigade and ambulance service Sanjeevani 108 Express.
In the first phase, it will cover Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, Korba, Dhamtari, Surguja and Bastar districts, he said.

In the second supplementary budget a provision of Rs 836 crore has been made for Prime Minister's Housing Scheme (Rural), the Chief Minister said.

Singh announced that a provision of Rs 355 crore has been made forfour-laneexpressway connectingRaipurrailway station with Kendri (13 Km) in Naya Raipur (the new capital), which would be completed by 2018.
He further announced that subsidy of Rs 1,855 crore will be extended to farmers through off budget channels.
Under Saur Sujala Scheme, 50,000 farmers will be provided with solar irrigation pumps at 90 percent subsidy. This year approximately 11,000 farmers will benefit by the scheme, he added.
