A Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) official allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday by shooting himself with his service pistol in Raigarh district, police said.
Assistant Commandant of CAF's 6th battalion, Anand Mohan Khalko (43), allegedly shot himself dead at his official residence in the battalion headquarters in Urdana area around 9 am, said Raigarh City Kotwali police station SHO SN Singh.
On hearing the gun shot, locals rushed to his house, which was locked from inside, and informed police.
Police and CAF personnel broke open the door and found Khalko lying dead in the house, he added.
The exact trigger behind the incident is being investigated.
No suicide note has been found at the spot, the SHO said.

"Prima facie, Khalko committed suicide due to some personal issues," he said.
The officer informed that Khalko's wife and two children were killed in a road accident in 2016 when he was posted in Kanker district.
On August 26, Khalko's 25-year-old sister-in-law had allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide after accusing him of sexually exploiting her under the pretext of marriage, the SHO said.
The sister-in-law was living with Kahalko at his official residence since his wife was killed.
"While she was being treated in the district hospital since the alleged suicide attempt, police are investigating her allegations against Khalko," he said.
Further probe is underway, he added.
