Congress today said the drubbing received by ruling BJP in Chhattisgarh civic polls was a vote against the "scams and misrule" of Chief Minister Raman Singh.
Party spokesman Randeep Surjewala told reporters that the electoral verdict is significant given the fact that BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were having high hopes in the state and had appealed to voters to make Chhattisgarh "Congress-free".
He claimed people have voted against the state government in spite of the fact that BJP allegedly used a lot of money power to win the polls.
The state Congress has demanded Chief Minister Raman Singh's resignation "because the CM had asked the voters to vote in his name".
