The department has drafted a comprehensive action plan to distribute fertilisers and seeds to farmers for achieving this target in the season which will start this month, an agriculture department official said here yesterday.
Of the crops, paddy would be sown on an area of 37.50 lakh hectares, maize on 2.25 lakh hectares, whereas the acregae under soybean and other crops will be 1.40 lakh hectares, he explained.
Besides, the farmersare also gearing up to sow pulses and oilseeds crop in the target area, the official said.
He said agriculture deparetment has an adequate stock of fertilisers for the season.
Farmers will be distributed 5.25 lakh tonnes of urea, 2.50 lakh tonnes of DAP (diammonium phosphate), 80,000 tonnes of NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium), besides other fertilisers.
He said the state government has also set a target to distribute interest-free short-term crop loan of Rs 3,200 crore to farmers during the Kharif season.
