Chhattisgarh government has decided to take stern action against industries and construction projects which violate green norms.
Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) Chairman and Principal Secretary (Housing and Environment) Aman Kumar Singh, while chairing a meeting of concerned officials yesterday, directed to ensure strict compliance of environment-related rules in industries and construction projects, an official statement said.
Any negligence in implementation and execution of environment rules will not be tolerated. The board will take stern action against those causing harm to environment, Singh said.
Environment clearance is necessary for construction of multi-storey buildings, various construction projects, township and area development projects, he said, adding that strict action will be taken against the organisations flouting environmental norms.
Singh also directed officials of the board to chalk out an action plan for controlling industrial pollution and take serious action against the units polluting the state capital and other cities of Chhattisgarh.
Expressing concern over vehicular pollution, he said the board will soon convene a meeting with Raipur Range Inspector General of Police and senior officials of Transport Department to control it.
