The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for the signing of the revised ASA between India and Seychelles to modernize and update the existing ASA signed on October 30, 1978, an official release said.
The ASA signifies an important landmark in the civil aviation relations between the two countries and has the potential to spur greater trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchanges between India and Seychelles, it said.
Code-sharing allows an airline to book passengers on its partner carriers and provide seamless transport to multiple destinations where it has no presence.
Air Seychelles, which is the national carrier of the Seychelles, is partly owned by Gulf carrier Etihad Airways, which holds 40 per cent stake in the airline.
Expanding its codeshare pact with Jet Airways in June this year, the Seychelles' national carrier had included New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata in its existing route network for code share flight, taking the total number of Indian cities to nine.
