The problem of call drops faced by mobile users, demand for a special category status to Andhra Pradesh and fair deal to all road users especially pedesterians were among several issues raised in the Lok Sabha today.
TMC leader Sudip Bandhyopadhyay wanted urgent action on the part of the government to stop the problem of call drops saying it has been worsening by the day.
Y V Subba Reddy (YSRCP) made a strong plea for granting special category status to Andhra Pradesh saying that it was needed for the overall development of the state in the wake of its division.
He said at the time of the passage of the bill to divide Andhra Pradesh, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had assured Parliament that such a status would be granted.
A P Jithender Reddy (TRS) said he would welcome grant of such a status to Andhra Pradesh. At the same time, he wanted the same also to be given to the newly-carved out state of Telangana.
Kirron Kher (BJP) made a strong plea for a fair deal to pedesterians contending that among the road users they remain a neglected lot with those with vehicles dominating the road.
With as many as 9.6 crore senior citizens and 2.6 crore disabled, the need for a better deal to pedesterians was even more, she said.
She wanted a universal design of road to be evolved so that it benefitted all users.
