Speaking at a workshop here on the issue of child marriage, Sinha said that NGOs and other organisations have a vital role to play in bringing a positive change in social arrangements and system.
"Joint efforts of different organisations, NGOs can bring positive change in society. Customs like child marriage still prevails at some places and ruining the life of young boys and girls", she said.
"We need to create awareness for education in remote areas so that the problem can be eradicated", she added.
In the workshop, two girls Gayatri Nayal from Jaipur and Laxmi from Jodhpur shared their experience of how they raised their voice against child marriage.
Laxmi (18) said that she was married to a boy in childhood and she was unaware of that but when her parents told her that she was married and now she would go to her husband's house, she objected and finally got her marriage annulled a few days back.
Chairperson of state commission for child rights protection Deepak Kalra, Jaipur District Collector Naveen Mahajan, Bharatpur District Collector Gaurav Goyal, other officials and representatives of NGOs working on the issue of child rights protection were present in the workshop.
