The leaders of Britain and Germany have jointly called French President Francois Hollande to offer support after the deadly gun attack on satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.
Prime Minister David Cameron and Chancellor Angela Merkel, who met in London today, offered their condolences after what Cameron called "an appalling terrorist outrage."
Merkel said it was "an attack against the values we all hold dear, values by which we stand, values of freedom of the press, freedom in general and the dignity of man."
Cameron said he and Merkel told Hollande "our thoughts are with the French people and offered any help that is needed."
Three masked gunmen stormed the newspaper's Paris offices today, killing 12 people.
