Srikant Sastri, Country Chair at Vivaki India, has started a new campaign on social networking websites, Facebook and Twitter, ‘Resign Before Jan26th’. The campaign is against two members of Paliament and 42 Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) who are charged with crimes against women. It is aimed to persuade political parties that these politicians should resign before January 26.

While the campaign is generating a noise on Facebook, Sastri is looking at engaging more people to contribute articles etc. “We appeal to the leaders of all parties to ensure that these 2 MPs and 42 MLAs resign before January 26, 2013. It will be a fitting tribute to the strength of our Republic, and its ability to transform itself,” the page said.

It also said that without resorting to the usual excuse of “let them get convicted first”, the political parties must demonstrate good faith to citizens by asking these 2 MPs and 42 MLAs to resign immediately. This will be the best way to convince us that our political leadership is serious about change.
