With the completion of voluntary disclosure scheme on June 30 launched by Haryana power distribution companies where consumers can declare their un-authorised extension of load, DHBVN and UHBVN would launch a massive campaign to curb theft of power.
Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVN) would jointly begin the campaign to detect the unauthorised power load.
"The Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (VDS) for disclosing the electricity load will expire on June 30 after which the power companies may initiate a campaign to detect unauthorised extension of load and if detected, penalty would be imposed as per rule," an official spokesman said here.
Penalty of Rs 150 could be imposed on an unauthorised per kilowatt domestic load, Rs 600 per KW for non-domestic load, Rs 1,000 per BHP metered agriculture load, Rs 2,000 per BHP for un-metered agriculture load and Rs 420 per unauthorised extension of low tension industrial load.
In case of domestic, non-domestic and LT industries, an advance consumption security will also have to be paid by the consumer and the load will be regularised by the Nigam on permanent basis unless the consumer removes the load and submits fresh application and agreement forms, the spokesperson said.
He further said that illegal extension of load and theft of electricity are the major reasons because of which the distribution system of power supply is getting interrupted at local level.
