Campaigning for Arunachal assembly by-poll ends

Electioneering for the November 19 by-poll to Hayuliang constituency in Arunachal Pradesh came to an end today.
Election office communique said over Rs 27 lakh was seized during the campaigning and the election machinery was in place for peaceful conduct of the poll necessitated by the death of former chief minister Kalikho Pul.
Sufficient police forces were deployed in the district, which borders China and all the polling parties would take position by tomorrow evening.
The union Home Ministry has provided two companies of Central Armed Police Force to ensure peaceful election and two Election Commission observers are already camping at Hayuliang, it said.
North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) candidate Dasanglu Pul contesting on a BJP ticket will take on Independent candidate Yompi Kri in the polls.
Dasanglu is the youngest of the three widows of Kalikho Pul.

The constituency with a total electorate of 11,003 including 5,508 female voters has 81 polling stations of which three - Kibitho, Aphumna and Taflagam are situated near the international border with China.
The highest numbers of electors are in Hayuliang polling station with 955 voters while Malogam polling station has only two.
Counting of votes would take place on November 22, the communique added.
