Prices of models like Toyota Camry Hybrid and Maruti Suzuki India's mid-sized sedan Ciaz and multi-purpose vehicle Ertiga, which feature micro hybrid technology in diesel variants, have come down in the capital due to VAT reduction by the Delhi government on such vehicles.
Price of Toyota Kirloskar Motor's Camry Hybrid has come down by Rs 2.3 lakh after VAT came down to 5 per cent from 12.5 per cent in Delhi.
The vehicle, which was earlier priced at Rs 33.2 lakh, is now priced at Rs 30.9 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Similarly, Maruti Ciaz will be cheaper by upto Rs 68,534 in the capital due to the duty reduction. Its different variants are now priced between Rs 7.68 lakh and Rs 9.59 lakh while earlier they were tagged between Rs 8.23 lakh and Rs 10.28 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Price of diesel Ertiga with SHVS technology (hybrid) has been cut by up to Rs 61,891. The vehicle is now priced between Rs 7.08 lakh and Rs 8.66 lakh. Earlier, it was tagged between Rs 7.58 lakh and Rs 9.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
"These changes (in prices) are due to Delhi government VAT reduction on hybrids. These apply at the dealership level only in Delhi," Maruti Suzuki India spokesperson said.

The SHVS micro-hybrid system used in the diesel variants of the Ciaz and Ertiga comprises fuel-saving tech like an engine stop-start function and a brake-energy regeneration system.
The SHVS technology uses a starter generator and an advanced high capacity battery that stores energy generated while decelerating or braking and uses it to power an electric motor during acceleration thereby helping in enhanced fuel efficiency.
Prices of the vehicles will remain unchanged elsewhere in the country.
