Delhi-based district consumer forum held Go Airlines (India) Pvt Ltd guilty of deficiency in service saying that it had cancelled three tickets, booked by Faridabad-based complainant Sanjay Rana, in an "un-reasonable and un-justified" manner.
"We find the action of the OP (Goairlines (India) Pvt Ltd) quite un-reasonable and un-justified and as such the OP is deficient in providing the services to the complainant," the bench comprising of its President Narendra Kumar and members Mona Sahni and Zahid Hussain said.
It also asked the airlines to pay Rs 15,078 to Rana as the difference in the amount of new tickets purchased by him with another airlines after cancellation of the scheduled flight.
Besides this, the forum directed the private airlines to pay Rs 26,000 as compensation to Rana for physical and mental harassment and also for litigation charges.
According to the complaint, Rana had booked three air tickets with Goairlines to fly to Goa on March 31, 2007 for the flight which was scheduled to depart at 11:35 AM.
Rana had paid Rs 5,922 as fare for the tickets and a day before the journey, he was informed that time of the flight was pre-poned by an hour but when he, along with his family, reached the airport here on March 31, 2007, he came to know that his tickets have been cancelled.
Rana contacted officials of the airlines but no justifiable cause of cancellation was given to him, the complaint said, adding that he was forced to make alternative arrangement of journey by Sahara Airlines for which he had to pay Rs 7,000 per ticket. (MORE)
