Several cane growers under the aegis of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) blocked roads in Modi Nagar and Ghaziabad city in the district.
In Modi Nagar, the framers blocked the national highway at Tigri Gate in the morning by stationing several tractors and bullock carts on the road.
The national highway remained blocked for more than three hours.
Addressing the farmers, BKU leader Harinder Nehra claimed, "Sugar mill owners of Uttar Pradesh owe Rs 7,500 crore to sugarcane farmers.
BKU had given a call for a state-level 'chakka jaam' (blockade).

Blockades were also carried out in Hapur and Greater Noida. District President of BKU Bijender Singh claimed that traffic was blocked at Hapur 'chungi', Raj Nagar Extension, Duhai and Murad Nagar town.
The Modi Nagar-Hapur road was also obstructed by the agitating farmers.
He said the protests will continue till the arrears of the farmers are paid.
In Greater Noida, the traffic movement was obstructed by farmers at Pari Chowk and several other places.
