CAPD official arrested for swindling govt ration

An official of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department has been arrested and over 1000 bags of government ration that he had sold to two private shops seized in the Bhatyas area of the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir today.
Police in Gandoh seized 501 quintals of CAPD wheat and Rice in 1002 bags from two private grocery shops at Bhatyas in Chilly Pingal Tehsil of Doda district, a police official said.
"Today, we received a specific information that government ration is being dumped in private shops, accordingly, a Police party raided two shops belonging to Abdul Latief and Ghulam Mustafa in Bhatyas market and recovered 672 bags of Rice and 330 bags of wheat," SDPO Gandoh, Bhushan Kumar Ganjoo said.
He said that 501 quintal of Ration seized from the private shops was meant for the public of Bhatyas area but was reportedly being sold in open market, the storekeeper of CAPD Abdul Rasheed Zarger has been arrested.
"We have initiated an inquiry and some more arrests are expected soon as it seems to be a big nexus of swindling government ration in open market", he said.
Police also sealed both the shops and lodged a case under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
